When outfitting a new music studio from the ground up you must be mindful of your surroundings. You may encounter neighborhood ordinances that prohibit loud noise after a certain time of day. In this particular case the client wanted to be mindful of his neighbors without having to sacrifice sound quality when producing music from a free standing dwelling.
pifCalifornia opted to integrate a customized Hempcrete Sound Baffle, whose overall cut reflected the look and feel of all natural marble — further complementing the overall upscale design concept for the studio. The baffle quickly became the unique aspect of the studio’s future sound, working well with high and low pitched frequencies. pifCalifornia placed the custom baffle 12” apart from the test speaker, then 6″, and 3″ to finally flush against the sound baffle to test results. Much of the project’s success related to the look, and unique performance of the custom baffle and is a testament to the all natural breathable fiber combined with 5th Element Binder and thoughtfully crafted approach of pifCalifornia. Keeping creative visions and ease of specification in mind, pifCalifornia thrives on supporting California’s leading industries with unique and customized solutions derived from California grown Hemp.
Implementing the pifCalifornia sound baffle was a resounding success for pifCalifornia. The overall flawless execution gave the client’s latest studio build a more branded edge, while showing how Hempcrete acoustic design can play a key role in creating modern spaces. “The space is performing very well acoustically as a result of the binder used in combination with the baffles,” said Sergiy Kovalenkov, the Chief Executive Officer at Hempire. We also used California Hemp harvested from local farmers that allows for low volume air flow in lieu of foam or particle boards that are created from toxic materials. Our client has been very happy with the acoustic performance of the new studio.”
